Main Responsibilities
The Transport Operations Manager oversees all operational, organizational, and safety aspects of the school transport service. Key duties include:
- Operations Management: Plan and supervise daily school bus operations, optimize routes, ensure punctuality, and handle unexpected events.
- Fleet and Vendor Management: Supervise vehicle usage, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, ensure regulatory compliance, and liaise with transport and maintenance providers.
- Team Leadership: Manage drivers, attendants, and operations staff; create work schedules; provide training and safety awareness.
- Student Safety: Enforce safety procedures, manage emergencies, coordinate with schools, families, and authorities.
- Stakeholder Relations: Communicate regularly with schools, handle complaints from parents, and ensure high service satisfaction.
- Reporting: Produce periodic operation reports, track KPIs (punctuality, incident rate, satisfaction), and propose improvements.
Required Profile
- Education: Master's degree (Bac+5) in Transport and Logistics, Organizational Management, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in transport operations, mobility, or logistics management. Experience in school transport is a strong asset. Prior work with civil society organizations in education, child welfare, or social development is highly recommended.
Skills Needed
- Technical: Solid knowledge of transport operations, route optimization techniques, child transport safety standards, and proficiency in office software and operations management tools.
- Managerial: Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, strong organizational and planning skills, decision-making under pressure, excellent communication abilities.
- Personal: High sense of responsibility, rigor, reactivity, availability, autonomy, public service mindset, initiative, and sensitivity to educational and child protection issues.
Working Conditions
The position is based within the school transport service area, with regular travel to routes and schools. Flexibility is required to accommodate school pickup and drop-off times, plus occasional on-call duty for incidents.
